Can you ship the DNA Maternity Test kit to multiple addresses?
Yes, we can. If participants are located in different areas, we can send parts of the DNA test kit to separate addresses. During checkout, simply enter “Please split kit” in the “Additional Notes” section and specify the addresses for each kit. For example, you can write “Send the Alleged Mother’s kit to [Name, Address]” and “Send the Child’s kit to [Name, Address]”. Each kit component is individually barcoded, ensuring your samples will be processed together when they arrive at the lab.
Can I use these results for legal purposes?
If you need DNA results for legal matters such as court proceedings, child custody, support, or inheritance claims, you will need to order the Legal DNA Maternity Test. This test follows a strict chain of custody process to ensure its admissibility in court. The procedure includes having a neutral third party collect the DNA samples, proper identification of the participants, and direct submission of the samples to the testing laboratory. Legal DNA Maternity Testing is available in the US, Canada, and the UK.
Does the DNA test kit expire?
No, the DNA test kits do not have an expiration date and can be stored indefinitely before sample collection. However, once a sample is collected, it’s recommended to send the kit back to our laboratory for testing within 3 months to ensure the best results.
How to read your Maternity Test results?
Your results will display two numbers (alleles) representing the number of repeats you inherited from each parent at each STR. You may have either identical alleles or different ones at a marker. In a mother-child relationship, 50% of the STR variation will match between the child and the mother. This analysis will conclusively confirm if the alleged mother is the biological mother of the child.
